Biography
Having graduated with BSc hons in Geology back when god was a boy I worked offshore in the North Sea for a while before trying my hand in the insurance sales then mortgage brokering sector. Focussing on my athletics for a few seasons, I picked up a research assistant job at Abertay uni before retraining in IT led to a permanent job back in my hometown, Dundee, with Dundee College from which I recently took early retirement.
All through that time my leisure activities have been sporting, with a brief foray into the TA in the early 1990s. Successful times with Dundee Hawkhill Harriers as a sprinter, then fitness coaching with Dundee High Rugby, led to various rugby posts culminating with my involvement as kit man with the Scotland Club International team for several years.
I married my wife, Mo, longer ago than I care to remember and she has been by my side through adventures skiing in the alps, horse riding in Tuscany, cycling across Scotland and also a part of the rugby journey with Dundee and Scotland.
A near miss with the TV show gladiators, I was on the reserve list at = point, is the nearest I've been to appearing on TV although I have done impromptu 'modelling' work having been spotted in a shop queue and asked to pose for a The North Face competition advert.
Nowadays, I'm relearning how to slow the pace of life, chilling out with some gardening, plenty of gym sessions and a new found enjoyment for cooking and writing.
