JOHN SCOTT

Biography

I am a 17-year-old boy who is going into his 6th and final year at school. I live in Motherwell with my Mum, Dad, brother, and three beagles...I enjoy an active life with cycling, keeping fit, and walking my dogs. I also like to play around with software such as adobe animate on my Wacom Cintiq, writing stories, and building complicated Lego structures.
School life has been particularly challenging for me as I have Dyslexia and the Scottish curriculum does not cater to kids who learn in a different way from the national curriculum. Drama has been my savior, it allowed me to escape and become someone else as well enabling me to deal with most situations and allowing me to get out of my comfort zone. Drama has helped me immensely with my literacy and even assisted me in obtaining my higher English.

I have studied drama for 5 years at St Andrew's high and have been continually at the top of my class for this subject as I really enjoy all aspects of drama. I have achieved my Nat 5 A and Higher Drama B and I have stared in school drama productions such as:
• Tallys Blood – I played Hughie Devlin, an 8-year-old Scottish boy in the year 1936.
• The Crucibles- I played John Proctor, a middle-aged man in Salem Massachusetts in 1692. I memorized 12 pages of script for this role.
My drama teacher referred me to the Tron Theatre where I joined the senior’s theatre group, I learned the process of developing the story through performing improv scenes and using an outline for the story. I also explored some of the technical aspects of a theatre performance such as projections cast on stage and on the actors' faces. The play was called” Remember to Forget.” Unfortunately, due to Covid, we did not get the opportunity to perform it as the theatre was shut down.

I will attend Motherwell College and high school after the summer where I will be studying a foundation apprenticeship in creative and digital media. I have a real passion for drama and the creative arts I would love to have a career in the television and film industry. I would greatly appreciate any opportunity to develop my skills and gain more experience in the TV and film industry as I would love to have a thriving career one day.
