Matthew is a confident, smart, funny and articulate guy from the south side of Glasgow. He lives with his Mum, Dad, twin brother, and beloved pet dog. Matthew has been a wheelchair user since toddler age and has a physical disability called Sacral Agenesis which prevents the use of his legs. Matthews legs almost present as though he is sitting in a basket so when sitting or lying down, he can play an amputee or someone without legs entirely. Matthew does very well at school, is popular and in his free time enjoys socializing with friends and loves the cinema. He takes a keen interest in the writing, directing and other aspects of behind the scenes of filmmaking and has been enthusiastically involved in many social occasions and events held at the school such as School shows, Art shows, Fashions show etc. Matthew enjoys family holidays in Ireland and visiting friends in north of England. As mentioned, Matthew is a very sociable person and takes as many opportunities as he can to interact with and meet new people. In the past he has enjoyed putting together and hosting weekly family quizzes. More recently Matthew has enjoyed putting himself directly in new situations through volunteering as a classroom assistant, tutor and performing work experience at a GP – all of which has allowed him to build on his interpersonal skills and working under pressure. He can take on any challenge and makes an impression on everyone he meets. Matthew as mentioned before moves around most of the time in his chair, however he is very mobile outwith it. Doing gymnastics from a young age has taught Matthew how to adapt to his surroundings and made him very mobile on his hands on knees. This adaptability is something of a key skill for Matthew and helps in his confidence in trying new things and calmly putting himself in new situations.
