Geoffrey Webster

Biography

I was a journalist and broadcaster for 40+ years before retiring in 2020.
For more than 30 years, I was a sports presenter with BBC Scotland in Glasgow, covering a wide range of sports, mainly for BBC Radio Scotland.
I was with Scotland’s football team at the World Cup finals in 1998 and the European Championship two years earlier.
I also reported from five Commonwealth Games, including the events in Melbourne, Vancouver Island and, of course, Glasgow in 2014.
For many years, I presented the sports bulletins on BBC Radio Scotland’s flagship news and current affairs programme, Good Morning Scotland and also appeared on Television’s Reporting Scotland.
The last few years of my time with the BBC saw me present coverage of rugby’s Six Nations along with hosting my own Sunday afternoon discussion programme on Sportsound.
I was the winner of a Royal Television Society Award and a regular nominee for the Celtic Media Awards.

Skills

Through my work, I have a strong interest in writing , broadcasting and interviewing.
My voice is regarded as strong, confident yet reassuring.
I love the outdoors, especially sailing, golf and hill walking.
