All my working life has been in service to the public in one way or another. Roughly, the first half in the conference industry and the second half in call centres. Whether I met my customers in person or over the telephone, everyone was dealt with courtesy and respect.
As a conference technician, I worked for just short of twenty years, with two companies and a short time as a freelancer. I would set up and operate projectors, of various kinds, screens and small public address systems. Gathering together the equipment to correctly present slide/photographic, video or digital media. This also included work, in a small was, as a technician on three TV and movie sets. I met my customers on a one-to-one basis. I would need to create a good rapport with my customers to ensure a successful outcome for all concerned.
In 2015 I began work as a Civil Servant. All my time was within call centres. Firstly, with Tax Credits where I would take calls from the general public. I was with VAT for a short time, before moving to Corporation Tax, where I spent most time. Here I was dealing with company directors and their agents.
Ultimately, I job was to inform tax-payers of what they needed to hear. Which may not necessarily be what they wanted to hear. This would require some tact.
My sport is archery
I am learning to speak French. This is however proving to be lengthy process.
