Born in the historic city of Aberdeen, I grew up exploring Scotland's diverse landscapes, with childhood chapters in Edinburgh and Stirling. In 1982, at the age of 12, life took an adventurous turn with a family move to Hong Kong, where I spent my formative years immersed in the vibrant culture of the still amazing British colony at the time, until 1989.
Returning to the UK, I pursued a BA in Architecture in London from 1989 to 1993, where my passion for design and creativity flourished. With a love for nurturing growth and learning, I continued my education with a BEd teaching degree, completing it in 1998. Afterward, the wanderlust kicked in, and a year-long adventure across Australia and Thailand followed, enriching my worldview hugely
In 2000, I settled in Henley-on-Thames, with my now wife, who I met on my world travels. We soon after moved to Glasgow in 2005, purchasing a guesthouse that became a labour of love. Over the next 20 years, using our experience in Design and the organisational and management skills, we transformed the property into the number one top-rated 4-star accommodation that remains a Glasgow gem, celebrated on TripAdvisor for its warmth, hospitality, and impeccable standards.
In October 2023, after two decades of dedication, we sold the guesthouse to focus on spending quality time with our rapidly growing teenage boys. Looking back on a life filled with creative ventures, travel, and meaningful relationships, I remain grounded in family, gratitude, and the promise of new adventures yet to come.
