Biography
I'm 24 years old with a Learning Disability, Downs Syndrome and I live with my mum.
Both of my parents are very supportive in all I set out to achieve.
I would describe myself as a loveable rogue, very flamboyant, a drama queen, a cheeky chappy who lives his best life. Some may call me an outrageous flirt and they'd be right but I think it adds another dimension to my irresistible charm.
I have my own support staff which allows me to access the wider community and the activities I enjoy.
I attend both ASN and main stream clubbercise classes several times a week. I have been fortunate enough that my teacher has recognised my potential and has allowed me to become a volunteer glow assistant at her ASN class. I take this role very seriously and love to offer encouragement and assistance where I can.
My real passion though is performing. I have been a member of the Ups and Downs Theatre Group since I was 5 and have had the
opportunity to perform to sell out audiences across 5 nights every year since starting firstly in Motherwell Concert Hall and more recently Hamilton Townhouse. This is a huge undertaking and commitment and it has allowed me to grow as a person both socially and emotionally.
It is a very disciplined environment and we must listen and follow instructions consistently. Our rehearsal schedule is demanding rehearsing every Sunday from mid August to March culminating with our show. I thrive on the experiences and the opportunities I'm given.
I was also an extra in Karen Gillan's movie The Tupperware Party in 2017.
More recently since lockdown I have joined NStar Studios mainstream adult dance class and I'm loving the opportunity to perform with like minded individuals who love to dance and perform. I consider myself to be a team player who looks out for my fellow performers. I am a quick learner and have already
got one performance under my belt and we are currently rehearsing for our up and coming show.
I would love the opportunity to show people that having a disability doesn't define me it enhances who I am. If individuals and organisations would only the take the time and energy to invest in my abilities I can achieve the sun, the moon and the stars!!
