Born in Glasgow, have lived and worked in Birmingham, London, St. Albans (Herts.) and Inverness. I worked as a journalist on assignment in many foreign countries, interviewing business people and politicians. Then in senior management at Director level in government agencies in Scotland. Later, working in "problematic" countries on UK Foreign Aid programmes (Afghanistan, Libya, Bosnia, Sri Lanka, South Sudan, Mozambique, etc, etc).
