Biography
I am a retired secondary school teacher with over 35 years service where each day I gave as good a performance as a teacher as I could. I produced, directed and performed in many school shows and enjoyed getting to know pupils in a different environment; one which nurtured confidence and self-worth. Latterly I was a Pastoral Teacher responsible for those pupils who were applying to university through UCAS.
I have been a member of a local musical theatre group for over 30 years taking on board different roles; directing, performing onstage and working backstage. I am currently producing our next production of Made in Dagenham as President of the Club. The story behind this show is as pertinent today as it was in the late 1960s, if not more.
I am married to a wonderful man with one grown up son who still lives at home. He is following me into the teaching profession and I am very proud of him - it took me a long time to have him!!
Skills
I am a friendly, approachable person who can converse with most people. I have counselling skills gained through my position as a Pastoral Teacher and successfully completing a course.
I have over 50 years of stage experience having enjoyed drama while at school and through a local musical theatre group.
I have a good ear for regional accents and can converse fairly well in Spanish and French again with accents.
I can dance fairly well but am not a dancer. I can hold a tune and have a good ear for harmony but I’m not a trained singer.
