Most of my working life I've been a teacher. My last post... which I continue to do now and again... involves visiting schools to create memorable, fun and skills-focussed workshops. The main attraction in these workshops is a puppet (a wee giraffe) who usually needs advice from the children about how to have a safe and healthy life. Many workshops involve role play, decision making and critical thinking skills. All work that I do, and have done, involves interacting with people so although I'm now semi-retired, I do a couple of days in a cafe, which is great opportunity to chat with people.
In my younger years, I was involved in many local theatre productions and now that my children are adults, I have ventured back into the production side. I sing and play drums... but not at the same time... and although was once in a band, am now part of a singing group.
A completely different side of my personality involves dolphins and seals. They fascinate me so I can sometimes be found kayaking, paddleboarding or simply hanging about the coast looking for an opportunity to spot them. I have recently trained as a Marine Mammal medic so hope that my new skills will help a few animals to survive when they find themselves in difficulty. And although I have been a first aider since being a teenager, this is defintely a step into something new.
Pilate, yoga and tai chi are all activities that I enjoy doing to keep me flexible, fit and grounded.
