Hi I have lived in Edinburgh most of my life with the exception of a few years when I was very young when I lived in Arbroath and Galashiels. I left school at 17 and went straight to work in the financial industry (Building Society and Insurance industry) I also completed a fitness qualification and taught aerobics in the evenings.
I became a full time mum to my three children. Two girls and a boy who have all chosen to study Law. They are grown up now (age 22, 24 & 27). I worked in a Primary School (in a deprived area) as a pupil support assistant for 12 years, starting when my youngest was age 8, I loved the variety and business of the school day.
Sadly my mother has dementia so I gave up work to support her but she is now being well looked after in a nursing home so I have more time. Last year I was accepted by Children’s Hearing Scotland to train as a Panel Member and now sit on panels each month, I find this very interesting and good for my self development. I will be doing my Chair training in 2025. I also volunteer for my local food bank. I have more time and would love to be involved with your industry.
I am a happy, friendly person who enjoys new challenges and meeting people from all walks of life. I have lots of patience and a very good sense of humour. I enjoy swimming.
I cycle off road and road (on sunny days). I do yoga and Pilates weekly and love music. I have been told I’m a pretty good dancer. I am empathetic and would be able to pull on emotions if necessary as I have been on the dementia journey with Mum. I would say I’m calm, patient and brave as not much bothers me.
I enjoying cooking for my family and spending time with friends. I’m lucky as I live close to the hills so enjoy walking in the Pentland’s. All in all I am up for a challenge.
